چکیده
Abstract Anorexia nervosa is a persistent and often difficult to treat eating disorder with significant physical mental health consequences. While it known that the associated alterations in brain functional connectivity during phase of acute underweight, effect weight normalization on remains unclear. This talk focuses recovery intrinsic severe anorexia nervosa, presenting data from longitudinal study. Using resting-state magnetic resonance imaging, we assessed at three different stages inpatient treatment. Our findings indicate patients have weaker altered network topology, which do not improve These disruptions networks suggest may long-term effects way processes information, even after restored. Mood change during weight restoration in patients with anorexia nervosa.
OBJECTIVE Although depression is known to co-occur with anorexia nervosa (AN), there are few clear studies of mood in the context of weight gain treatment without the use of medication. METHOD Twenty-one patients admitted consecutively to an inpatient clinical research unit normalized weight to at least 90% of ideal body weight (IBW). Depression was assessed at admission and weight normalizat...
متن کاملAnorexia nervosa: changes in sexuality during weight restoration.
OBJECTIVE We examined changes in sexual drive during weight restoration in patients with anorexia nervosa. METHODS Eleven women with anorexia nervosa prospectively completed the Sexual Daydreaming Questionnaire (SDQ) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) at five time points during inpatient treatment involving weight restoration. SDQ and HADS scores were recorded every 4 weeks ...
متن کاملRate of inpatient weight restoration predicts outcome in anorexia nervosa.
OBJECTIVE To examine weight restoration parameters during inpatient treatment as predictors of outcome in anorexia nervosa (AN). METHOD Adolescent and adult females admitted for inpatient eating disorder treatment were recruited for an ongoing longitudinal study. This analysis examined several weight restoration parameters as predictors of clinical deterioration after discharge among particip...
متن کاملDoes anxiety improve during weight restoration in anorexia nervosa? A systematic review
Weight restoration is considered a principal outcome for treatment of Anorexia Nervosa (AN) due to the significant physiological disturbances resultant from acute states of malnutrition. Treatment outcomes for populations with AN are relatively poor, with increasing evidence suggesting that weight restoration alone is insufficient for long-term recovery. Research aimed at understanding the psyc...
متن کاملSevere hypophosphataemia in anorexia nervosa.
In addition to well-described acid-base and electrolyte disturbances, anorexia nervosa may be complicated by severe hypophosphataemia. We report a case of anorexia nervosa complicated by life-threatening hypophosphataemia manifesting as generalized muscle weakness and bulbar muscle dysfunction, resulting in an aspiration pneumonia and cardiorespiratory arrest.
